This a film poster used to promote the film Trainspotting, Trainspotting is a British film released in 1996.
I have decided to focus my film poster research on British films as I will be creating a promotional package for a British film myself, this allows me to identify any trends that may stand out being used by the instituion.
The film title is posistioned in the middle of the poster and stands out to the audience, around the title is a bold orange colour which allows the six images to appear clearly.
Orange can be used to represent enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation. It is likely that the designer of the poster has taken into account the impression that he/she would like to give out about the film when choosing a suitable colour to use.
The images are of five different people and are all in black and white, this ensures that they stand out from the background colour and it also gives the characters shown appear to have a dark nature or characteristics perhaps. All the characters shown have strong facial expressions upon their faces, this may be because the producers want to show that their characters have interesting qualites to offer the audience, a technique which could attract viewers/consumers.
